POLICE: Weekly Blotter

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT:
New Castle Police had responded to Reckless Endangerment report near Pollock Store Road in Lawrence County on July 25th. Christopher Rodgers, age 40 from Volant fired two rounds from a shotgun at the victim’s residence. Rodgers has been continually creating loud noises and firing fireworks causing a disturbance in the area. The Pennsylvania State Police New Castle Barracks had been called to the area approximately four times within the last ten days and the actor was for summary disorderly conduct and harassment on July 24th for causing loud noises and a disturbance. Troopers arrived at Rodgers’ residence and was he was taken into custody. Rodgers was charged with Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Disorderly Conduct as misdemeanor.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT
PSP New Castle was dispatched on July 14th to a hit and run incident that in Wampum Boro. The victim’s vehicles were parked on Clyde and Main Street while they were inside at a church meeting. When they came out, they found damage done to their vehicles. Someone had sideswiped both of the vehicles causing a lot of damage. The vehicle hit and fled the area. The vehicle is possibly white colored and should have damage on the entire passenger side and missing glass out of the mirror. The paint transfer should be a maroon color. The New Castle Police Barracks investigated a one vehicle crash on July 26th on Kings Chapel Chapel Road in Neshannock Township. Unit 1, a 2005 Honda Civic was traveling straight when a deer entered the roadway from the North into the vehicle’s lane of travel. The vehicle struck the deer, veered off to the southern shoulder and came to a final stop facing east. Minor damage was observed to the passenger side headlight and hood, however there was deer hair on the passenger side headlight and hood. The operator of the vehicle related that his radiator was leaking. The operator also stated that he would attempt to drive the vehicle back to Hermitage and if he required a tow he would call for one. No injuries were reported or observed.

DRUG POSSESSION
PSP Beaver initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Big Beaver Boulevard on July 15th. During the investigation, the passenger was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The passenger was charged accordingly.

On July 27th, PSP New Castle was dispatched to a domestic on Portersville Road in Perry Township. On scene it was found that the arrestee punched he victim in the back as she was getting away from him in an argument they were having. The arrestee had warrants out in Beaver County but they did not want him brought in. The arrestee was released and charges of harassment and drug paraphernalia were filed.

Cody Murray, age 26 of New Castle, was charged with having marijuana in his vehicle on July 4th in New Castle. Officer Orloski observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. When the radar unit was activated, it had indicated that the vehicle was going 80 miles per hour in clearly posted 65 mile per hour zone. Officer Sipe then initiated a traffic stop. Upon request of Murray’s license, an odor of marijuana was indicated. Murray was then asked to exit the vehicle for questioning. Murray stated that he does smoke marijuana inside of the vehicle all the time but he hadn’t smoked inside of the vehicle today. Murray informed Officer Orloski that there was a small amount of marijuana inside the glove box. A clear plastic bag of marijuana was seized from Murray’s’ vehicle.

DUI
PSP Beaver initiated a traffic stop in Beaver Falls on July 17th. During the encounter the driver displayed signs of impairment and SFST’s were administered. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance. The driver was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Charges pending due to blood work.

The Beaver Patrol initiated a traffic stop on 8th Avenue in Beaver Falls on July 24th. The arrestee was stopped for committing a motor vehicle violation. He admitted to drinking alcohol was found to be impaired. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Charges are pending.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Greg Tyson, age 60 of Enon Valley, was charged with Disorderly Conduct on July 18th. Troopers were dispatched to Vine Street in Enon Valley. Upon arrival, neighbors of Tyson had stated that Tyson was yelling outside that he was going to burn their houses down and continued to yell other obscenities. The neighbors also related that Tyson was intoxicated. The Troopers went over to Tyson’s house to speak with him. Tyson opened the door and began to yell at them and refused to come out of his home or speak with the Troopers. After leaving the scene, the Troopers were called again and told that Tyson was outside yelling and threatening again. Once Troopers were back on the scene, the placed Tyson under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Once Tyson was in the car he began to kick the dashboard and laptop, the Troopers pulled the car over and told Tyson to get out of the car that he would have to get back in on his own after he had calmed down. Tyson would not get back in the car and when he was put back in he kicked one of the Troopers in the chest. The Troopers then got Tyson in the car.

CARELESS DRIVING
Daniel Schaffer, age 48 of Ellwood City was charged with Careless Driving on July 11th. Officers observed a red truck stopped in the middle of the lane on Pershing Street. After further observation from Mt. Vernon Drive, the vehicle turned onto Pine Street and then went back to Pershing Street and onto the curb in the grass area next to the exit of the hospital parking lot. Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, it appeared that Schaffer was intoxicated. After being advised to stay in his vehicle, Schaffer pulled away from the scene and threw a beer can out of the window. After driving onto Walnut Street and Loop Street, Schaffer exited his vehicle and began to run between buildings. Schaffer was chased on foot but was lost after he went into the woods where patrol could not find him. It was later discovered that Schaffer was under suspension DUI related until the year 2044. Schaffer was then convicted of Careless Driving and Driving With a Suspended License.

ILLEGALLY OPERATING A VEHICLE WITHOUT REGISTRATION
Roy Mazzarini, age 61 of New Castle was charged recently with Illegally Operating A Vehicle Without Registration. Officer Sipe initiated a traffic stop on a black motorcycle for improper use of turn signals and invalid registration on Carmen Beatrice Boulevard. Maazarini explained that he did not have this registration insurance paperwork with him but that it was at home. When told why he was being pulled over Mazzarini stated that he was a sovereign citizen had his right to travel and that said Officer Sipe was performing an illegal stop. Mazzarini stated the motorcycle was not registered and that he did not have a title for the vehicle. Officers removed the registration from the vehicle and provided a receipt for the removal of the registration. Mazzarini parked the motorcycle off the roadway and asked for ride to his friends house. A ride was provided for Mazzarini and he also asked to be dropped off down the road so his friend would not question why police were dropping him off.
