Time for some tales.
Franklin Community Park will be hosting Summer Story Time for children and parents to come do story time together.
The event is once a week and will take place every Thursday starting at 1:30 p.m. There already have been a few story times but the event will continue Thursday, July 15, July 22, and with the last story time being on Thursday, July 29th.
Upon arrival, children are welcome to begin on the playground alongside their parents. When everyone has arrived, the children are called over to sit on a carpet square and begin to nursery rhymes and songs and move on to the book. The parents are encouraged to participate in singing the rhymes and songs as well. After this, the children move to a picnic table where they will make a craft that goes along with the book.
The event is open ended so children and parents are free to leave whenever or return to the playground if they would like. Families are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines regarding social distancing.
“This story time is more preschool focused, although older siblings are welcome to be in attendance,” says Stacey D. Rider, Outreach and Children’s Services Specialist at the Chippewa Library. Rider holds the event at the park and is in charge of registration.
This is an outreach program so registration is required so that enough supplies is available for the children.
