Kids Quest After School Program Hopeful To Begin This Fall

There will be a new after school program for young children coming this fall.

Kids Quest will be an after school program for children in grades 2nd-4th at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City. While the church is holding the program, it is a completely independent organization that is hoping to give children an after school option that benefits them and the community.

The idea came from inside Calvin Presbyterian and is now growing and planning to launch in the fall. The rooms where the program will be held are under remodel now and a director and volunteers are needed to make this program a success.

Forty children will be able to sign up for this after school option. The group has been working with both Riverside and Ellwood City schools to help ensure that children will be offered busing to the program, they have also spoken with Ellwood City’s guidance counselor to see what the children need to gain from this program.

With the COVID-19 restrictions being lifted, there are currently no restrictions that will keep this program from happening and there are no official policies concerning COVID-19.

There is a ten dollar fee to be in the program and scholarship options are available as well as a multi-child discount. The program itself has four parts to it. The first one is fun, the program is hoping to create a space where children feel they can have fun after school. The next is homework help, volunteers will be there to help the children with homework if they feel they need it. The third part is snack, snacks will be provided to the children in the program. The last part is called “Good News”, this is the religious aspect of the program.
