Last week, the Wolverines traveled to South Park and cruised to a 12-3 victory, but on Wednesday evening, the Eagles turned the tables and cruised to a 9-2 win on Ellwood City Senior Night.
Ellwood City seniors Maria Ioanilli and Makinley Magill were recognized prior to the game as part of the Senior Night festivities.
The Wolverines started fast as Senior Maria Ioanilli smashed the first pitch of the inning over the wall in left center field for a quick 1-0 lead.
South Park took the 3-1 lead in the third inning on back to back singles and a 3-run homer for Farrior.
The Eagles extended the lead to 6-1 with another three spot in the fifth inning. A hit batter, a triple, two singles, and an error provided the offense. Three more South Park runs in the sixth gave the Eagles a 9-1 lead. Two singles and two doubles provided the scoring.
The Wolverines got their second and final run of the game in the seventh by way of the long ball once again. This time, Freshman Keira Rozanski hit her first varsity home run as she blasted a line shot to straight away center field.
Five players combined for six hits on the day. Ioanilli led the charge with a homer and double. Rozanski homered while Aliya Garroway, Angie Nardone, and Kyla Servick added singles.
Julia Nardone took the loss. She struck out 5 and walked 1 in the regular season finale.
The Wolverines finished the regular season with record of 11-4 overall, 6-4 in the section, and Ellwood City will look to the playoffs that will start Tuesday.
