The Ellwood City boys golf team continued its strong play with another victory this week, defeating Mohawk 223-241 at Delmar Golf Course. The girls golf team fell victim to Elizabeth Forward on Tuesday and, in an even closer match, were defeated by Central Valley in a playoff on Thursday.
For the boys, Milo Sesti (42) and Joey Hudston (42) led the charge for the Wolverines while Zac Polojac (43), Ryan Hampton (47), and Angelo Agostinelli (49) rounded out the scoring for the victors. Jack Barth fired a low round of 39 in defeat for Mohawk. The boys golf team next plays Monday in an Boys Section Golf Match at Stonecrest Golf Course.
For the girls, the team lost by four strokes on Tuesday at the hands of Elizabeth Forward at Butler Country Course. Molly McCommons (46) and Emily Boroni (47) played well in defeat. The girls battled Central Valley on Thursday to a draw after match play resulting in an ensuing playoff. Central Valley collected a 2-hole tiebreaker victory at Delmar Golf Course by just a couple of strokes to down the Lady Wolverines. The girls are now 5-3 on the season.
