Lincoln High School Posts 2020-21 Logistics Plan and Bell Schedule

Information made available by Lincoln High School this week showcases the upcoming 2020-21 Operational Logistics Plan and Bell Schedule.

2020-2021 LHS Operational Logistics Plan reads as follows:

● Face Covering/Mask Requirement: According to the most recent Department of Health Regulation, all students are required to wear a face covering/mask throughout the entire school day. If you or your child has an issue with wearing a face covering/mask throughout the school day, then you should reconsider your return to school option and contact the high school office asap. Unless a student has a doctor’s note, all students will be required to wear a face covering/mask throughout a vast majority of the school day.

● Bell Schedule with 1-Hour Delay & Hallway Transitions: (Please see bell schedule attachment)

● Entering the Building: Staff will enter the building through the parking lot entrance and report to the office where they will have their temperature taken by a thermal ipad scanner before entering the office suite. Students will enter the building in three different locations off of the Short Street side of the building using the crosswalks and sidewalks. The building will not open until 8:10AM each morning for students. Seniors & Juniors will enter through the auditorium side doors marked as DD, sophomores & freshmen will enter through the superintendent’s office doors marked as B, & grades 7 & 8 will enter through the commons entrance (main office doors) marked as A. Students will be required to wear face  coverings/masks as they enter. Students will have their temperature taken by a thermal ipad scanner as they enter the building.

● Locations before First Period: Students will be permitted to eat breakfast after entering the building until 8:38AM. Students wanting to eat breakfast and only those eating breakfast are to report to the cafeteria wearing their face covering/mask through the line and until they are seated to eat. Tables will be marked where it is safe to eat in the cafeteria. Breakfast students will remain in the cafeteria until they are dismissed at 8:40AM. Students not eating breakfast will report to a certain location until they are permitted to enter the hallways to report to their locker and first period. Students are to wear their face covering/mask while at these locations. Seniors & Juniors will sit in the auditorium at a safe distance until dismissed at 8:34AM. Sophomores &Freshmen will sit in the bleachers in the big gym until dismissed at 8:38AM. Students in grades 7 & 8 will stand at a safe distance on the ramp, guidance hallway, and big gym hallway until dismissed at 8:36AM. It is encouraged that all walkers, drop-offs, and drivers to school arrive as close to 8:38AM as possible to avoid crowds. If a student has to arrive prior to 8:38AM, then they will need to follow the entering the building procedures and will be directed to the specified locations until 8:38AM.

● Lunch Periods: We are going to require all students that bring their lunch to report to the library to eat their lunch. All students that need to purchase an item or lunch will report to the cafeteria to eat. Students will be required to wear their face covering/mask as they enter the cafeteria and/or library and while they are standing in line. Seats have been marked accordingly to ensure a safe social distance where students will eat and remove their face covering/mask. When a student needs to get up from their seat, then they need to wear their face covering/mask.

● Classroom Expectations: Desks will be spaced as far apart as possible to accommodate all students scheduled into the class. Each desk will have a plexiglass barrier for students to use.
Each room will have hand sanitizer available for students to sanitize their hands as they enter the classroom. Wipes will also be available if a student chooses to wipe their desks or materials before usage. Face coverings/masks will be required at all times in the classroom. Students should be seated at all times during the class period. Class periods will only be 34 minutes in length.

● Restroom Breaks: Students may still use the restrooms during class period transitions or when they ask the teacher for permission for emergency issues during the class period. We encourage asking teachers to use the restroom right at the beginning or end of the class period if possible.

● Health Office/Office Visits: Students will need to wear their face covering/mask when visiting the health office, main office, or guidance office. It will be assumed that you are sick if you need to visit the health office and the health office will follow certain protocols.

● Hall Pass Usage: No students will be permitted to use the hall pass unless it is deemed an emergency by the teacher.

● Hallway Lockers: Students will be assigned a locker and should only use their assigned locker. Locks will not be distributed this school year. If a student desires to use a lock on their locker, then they will need to provide one from home. Please note that the administration reserves the right to check a student locker with reasonable suspicion at any time. Students will still be required to carry materials in hands to and from class. Bookbags are not permitted to be carried during the school day.

● Lab Classes/Classroom Equipment: We will do our best to sanitize equipment throughout the school day. We encourage all students and staff to spend the time to sanitize equipment after each usage prior to the next student using the equipment. Wipes will be available in the classroom for students and staff to use.

● PE Class: Once the teachers start back to school, a procedure will be developed on how PE classes will operate. It will be determined if students will need to change, use the locker rooms,
and activities that will function during the class period.

● Choir/Music Class: Once the teachers start back to school, a procedure will be developed on how singing and playing will take place.

● Home Health Screening: Parents are encouraged to screen their son or daughter each morning prior to sending them to school each day. Students are strongly encouraged to stay at home if they are feeling ill in any way. Please do not send students to school to report directly to the nurse if they are showing signs of being ill.

We encourage all parents and students to visit the district webpage to review the entire PDE Health & Safety Plan that was approved by the ECASD School Board and submitted to PDE.
