Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce Creates Business Updates Page in Wake of Coronavirus

In uncertain times, communities must come together to support one another and the local businesses.

The Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce has taken the opportunity to create a Facebook page in support of local businesses to post updates during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Ellwood City Area Business Updates” is a place where businesses and the community can come together online to post hours, specials, and ways to help.

“I wanted to create a group separate from the Chamber page where businesses, whether they are chamber members or not, could post updates for the community,” said Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director of Membership, Loralei Hink. “I want our business owners to be able to utilize the page to post changes in their hours, schedules, any specials they may be offering and I want the community to hopefully engage with these businesses and continue to support them in the coming weeks.”

The page grew in just one day to nearly 300 followers, and had a variety of posts.

“I’m excited that it has had such a great response in just a few hours,” Hink said.

Posts regarding restaurant take out options, salon and gift shop closings, bakery goodies curbside, offers for helping the elderly, and many other business information posts filled the page.

“It’s been something seeing everyone really come together during all of this,” Hink said. “Ellwood is a special place and I have no doubt we will come out of this stronger and better than ever”
