Joshua L. Gibson, 29

Joshua L. Gibson, 29, of Franklin Township, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019.

Born in Brighton Township on August 16, 1989, Josh was the son of Theodore “Ted” and Leann Whelan Gibson, Jr.  A 2008 graduate of Riverside High School, Josh played football all the way through from Little Panthers to his senior year at RHS.  Upon graduation, Josh entered the Army where he served as a Fire Support Specialist from 2008 to 2014, 13 of those months were spent serving in Iraq.  Josh worked at Fox and James in Neville Island as a diesel technician.  An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Josh also enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycles and working with his hands.

Josh is survived by his parents, Ted and Leann Gibson of Franklin Township, his grandmothers, Shirley Gibson of Beaver Falls and Sarah P. Whelan of Ellwood City, his uncle and aunt, Paul Randall (Joni) Whelan of Ellwood City, his aunt and uncle, Linda (Steve) Parker of Camdenton, MO, his uncle, Thomas Brown of SC, several cousins and his girlfriend, Lauren Nussbaumer of Fombell.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Theodore B. Gibson, Sr. and Ronald L. Whelan, 2 aunts, Bonnie Lee Gibson and Rebecca Ann Gibson Brown and a cousin, Christina M. Whelan.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 27th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.  A funeral service will take place at the funeral home following the visitation at 8:00 PM with Tony Bucci, celebrant.  Interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

  2. I just found out and I am sick to my stomach….There was always so much love in my heart for you. I always wanted the very best for you…I was just thinking about you the other day and hoping everything was coming together for you. I hope you are finally at peace. </3
