Ellwood City Public Library Activities for The Week of May 14

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library for the week of May 14, 2018, include the following:

Monday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. – Classics Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Death Comes for the Archbishop,” by Willa Cather. New members are welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Tuesday, May 15, — The library will be participating in the “Fifth Grade Walking Tour,” sponsored by the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce. Fifth graders will visit the library in groups throughout the day.

Wednesday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.

Wednesday, May 16, at 1:00 p.m. — “Building Buddies,” a new program of fun and learning for toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program allows kids to explore building and socialization skills. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.

Wednesday, May 16, at 3:00 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. This group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. Call the library for more information.

Wednesday, May 16, at 6:00 p.m. – “Teacup Floral Arrangement” demonstration and fundraiser presented by Patti Kuhn of Posies by Patti. Those attending can either take their own teacup for the fresh flower arrangement or use one of the teacups provided by the library. Tickets are $25 and includes all materials and refreshments. Thursday, May 17, at 3:00 p.m. – “Food 4 Thought,” a book discussion group for students in 9th grade and up. The group meets once each month for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, May 17, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group whose members meet weekly to work on individual projects. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.

Plans for the library’s Summer Reading Program are in place and area students are welcome to call and register for the wide variety of activities planned. There are programs for babies, toddlers and preschools, as well as programs for elementary-aged students, junior high and high school students. Call the library for more information.

This month’s “Movie Night for Adults” will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23. The evening will feature a new-to-DVD film and refreshments. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.

The library is now accepting book donations for the Annual Book Sale which is scheduled for October 1-6. Books of all types in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The library will NOT accept textbooks of any type, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed Books, no encyclopedias and no VHS tapes. Call the library for more information.
