Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
Monday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information. This program has been moved to Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. through August 9 because of Summer Reading Program activities. Call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
The library will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of the holiday. Normal hours will resume on Wednesday, July 5.
Wednesday, July 5, at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. — “Build a Better World,” a weekly program designed for students who have just completed kindergarten through 3rd grade. Those in kindergarten and 1st grade meet at 10:00 a.m. and those in 2nd and 3rd grades meet at 11:00 a.m. Featured are activities, games, crafts and more. Call the library to register.
Wednesday, July 5, at 12:00 Noon – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. Call the library for more information.
Wednesday, July 5, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “The Nightingale,” by Kristin Hannah. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, July 6, at 10:00 a.m. — “Puppet Theater Workshop” for students in 4th grade and up. The students who are participating create plays and then rehearse them all summer using puppets and marionettes. They then give two performances at the end of the summer, one for other Summer Reading Program children and the other for family and friends.
Thursday, July 6, at 12:00 Noon – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “The Blackthorn Key,” by Kevin Sands. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, July 6, at 3:00 p.m. – “Library Anniversary Committee will meet to discuss the upcoming “Art on the Avenue” celebration scheduled for July 28. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, July 6, at 6:00 p.m. – “Family Movie Night,” featuring a new-to-DVD film for children and families. This is a family night event, so all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library to find out the title of the movie to be shown.
Saturday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m. – “Silly Science Saturday,” featuring Lego creations and science experiments. This program, which is usually held the first Saturday of every month, is being held a week later this month due to the Fourth of July festivities in Ewing Park. All children in kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome to attend.
Saturday, July 8, at 12:00 Noon – “Twenty-Something Book Discussion Group,” designed for college-aged students and folks in their twenties. The group will discuss the book, “The Keeper of Lost Causes,” by Jussi Adler-Olsen. Call the library for more information.
“Movie Night for Adults” will take place on Wednesday, July 26, this month beginning at 6:00 p.m. Call the library for more information.
