After battling cancer for two years, Cynthia K. Antinossi, 66, of North Sewickley Twp. was born into eternal life on December 31, 2016, passing peacefully in her home surrou8nded by her family.
Cynthia was born on February 6, 1950 in Ellwood City, the daughter of James L. and Shirley McElwain Brown. She was a 1968 graduate of Riverside High School, where she was elected prom queen and escorted by her soon-to-be husband, John W. Antinossi. Cindy and John were married on October 19, 1968 at Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Ellwood City. After raising her two children and being active in area churches, Cindy felt a calling to full time ministry. She was trained by the International School of Ministry and ordained at River City Church/Partners in Harvest in Trafford, Pa. Cindy founded Dayspring Harvest Ministries in Ellwood City in 1988, where she also served as pastor. Her approach in ministry centered on her love for the Lord Jesus and her love for the Ellwood City community, and she welcomed everyone with open arms, especially those who did not fit in or feel welcomed by “organized religion”. She officiated at numerous weddings and funerals for those in the community without a church home. In addition to founding Dayspring Harvest Ministries, Cynthia purchased and remodeled the building on Sixth Street in Ellwood City that currently serves as the Dayspring Harvest ministry center and organized and opened a bookstore in the same building to serve the community. Most recently, in the midst of undergoing chemotherapy and overcoming numerous other obstacles, Cindy’s vision of starting a community radio station for Ellwood City became a reality after she obtained a license from the Federal Communications Commission to start WXED, 107.3 FM with the motto “One Community, One Voice.” Cindy had numerous hobbies including painting and drawing, jewelry making, reading and music. She also like to travel, organizing three group trips to Israel.
She is survived by her mother Shirley Brown, her husband of 48 years John, her daughter, Beth (Donnie) Panizales of Cranberry Twp., her son, Matthew (Laura) Antinossi of Hinsdale, Illinois, her six grandchildren, Alexsia, Joshua, and Samuel Panizales and Ethan, Abby, and Luke Antinossi, her brother, Thom (Susan) Brown of North Sewickley Twp., and her nephew and niece, Jason and Jennifer Brown of Ellwood City. She was preceded in death by her son, John W. Antinossi, Jr. in 1970, and her father James Brown in 2010.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Wednesday from 9-10 am in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Service for Cindy will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The family would like to extend gratitude to her home hospice caregivers from Celtic Healthcare/Allegheny Health Network, especially her nurses Penny and Susan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dayspring Harvest Ministries of WXED.
