Beaver County Board of Commissioners Respond to Shell’s Announcement

BEAVER- The Beaver County Board of Commissioners were notified this morning by phone that Shell has made a final investment decision to build a multi-billion dollar ethane cracker plant in Potter Township.  The Board released the following statements:

“It’s another great day for Beaver County,” Chairman Sandie Egley said. “This announcement by Shell has the potential to be a game-changer not just for Beaver County, but for the entire region.  The Board of Commissioners would like to officially welcome Shell as our newest residents and we look forward to continued cooperation for many years to come.”

“This investment will mean thousands of new jobs in Beaver County and will allow our area to continue to capitalize on the opportunities that shale gas has brought to western Pennsylvania,” Commissioner Daniel Camp said.  “There is enormous potential here for continued economic growth and the Board of Commissioners will do what we can to foster economic development.”

“I’ve been waiting for this news since Shell announced Beaver County as the preferred site location four years ago and I’m glad this day is finally here,” Commissioner Tony Amadio said.  “The positive impact this will have for family-sustaining jobs and economic development is incredible and Beaver County is in a great position to make the most of it. I don’t think we can overstate what this means for Beaver County’s future.”
