Kelly D. Alters, 42

Kelly D. Alters, 42, of Franklin Township passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born in Ellwood City on Sept. 2, 1973, Kelly is the daughter of Gary Nicklas of Evans City and Glenda Brown Nicklas of Ellwood City. She married David Alters on Dec. 16, 1995. Kelly graduated from Riverside High School in 1991, attended Edinboro University and earned her nursing degree from CCBC in 2000. A dedicated oncology nurse, Kelly worked at the Allegheny Health and Wellness Pavilion in Wexford where she really enjoyed taking care of her patients. She was a member of Lillyville Church of God. Kelly loved her kids, Jake and Paige and her husband, David. She will be deeply missed by her family, her babes and everyone who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Kelly is survived by her two children, Jake and Paige Alters, at home, a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Robyn Nicklas of Ellwood City, her maternal grandmother, Elva Brown of Ellwood City, four nephews; Brandon Streets, Easton Nicklas, Patrick Caldwell and Caleb Alters, a brother-in-law Mark (Kim) Alters of Callery, Pa., a sister-in-law, Maggie (Will) Rodgers of Tampa, Fla.

Kelly was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Francis Nicklas and her maternal grandfather, Curtis Brown.

Friends will be received on Friday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Arndt of Lillyville Church of God. Interment will follow in Lillyville Church Cemetery.
