Ellwood City 15u Softball Team Brings Home 2018 Lawrence County Championship

The team traveled to historic Dean Park in New Castle on Thursday evening to capture the championship hardware.  They started fast as they plated the first 10 runs of the game in the opening 3 innings to cruise home with an 11-5 victory over the Union Scotties. Another day, another mercy rule shortened victory for the Lady Wolverines. This time, Ambridge was the victim of a 13-1 five inning win at Stiefel Park.   The offense was potent once again as eight different players pounded out 10 hits on the day. Back-to-back: Lady Wolverines Dominant in WPIAL Repeat

Elwood City’s softball team has been a dominant force over WPIAL opponents in recent years, as it carried a carried a 37-game winning streak against such foes into Wednesday’s Class 3A championship game. That dominance continued as the Wolverines scored a convincing 10-0 victory in five innings against Deer Lakes at California University’s Lilley Field. To get that win, the Wolverines (18-0) had to be extremely patient. Wolverines defeated Freedom Area 16-1 on Tuesday thanks in part to Brooklyn Magill, who drove in four runners. Magill drove in runs on a single in the second, a single in the fourth, and a single in the fifth. Wolverines collected 16 hits.
