Thursday, October 12, 2017 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Please join the Relay for Life team for their first meeting of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Ellwood on Thursday, October 12th at 6pm. They will be meeting at The Beanery, 212 Portersville Road in Ellport, (the old La Isla Mexican Restaurant) and celebrating the 2017 event and beginning plans for our 2018 event. Ellwood City has never seen so purple in it’s life – the Relay for Life event which took place on Saturday, June 10, was a success according to Relay for Life member, Jackie Kline. “We had a good turn out and lot’s of support from the local community, I think overall the event was a success and we hope it’ll get even bigger in the years to come.” This was the first Relay for Life that took place in downtown Ellwood, in previous years the event was hosted at Helling Stadium. PHOTOS: Chalk The Town Event

Along with Relay For Life moving to downtown Ellwood City, an idea formed about doing a sidewalk chalk art contest.  Team North Sewickley Walkers took the challenge on putting together this first time event.  As Saturday June 10, 2017 dawned relayers awoke to thunder and rain, upon arriving downtown Lawrence avenue our sidewalk area was wet.  We hope it will dry by noon or the chalk may not write on the squares, thank goodness it dried.  The young artist started to register at noon and went right away to work creating their works of art each with a bag of…

Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people around the world yearly – that’s why the American Cancer Society holds their signature and most successful fundraiser, Relay for Life, to raise funds for cancer research in the hopes of ultimately improving cancer survival rates, decrease the incidents of cancer, and improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease. Ellwood City Relay for Life Event

Mountaineer Casino Bus Trip Sunday, May 7, 2017 8:30 A.M. Depart       Team Circle of Friends is going to Mountaineer in Wheeling, West Virginia to play at the casino.  The group will depart from the Ellwood City Hospital via Anderson Coach at 8:30 am and gamble until 3:00 pm, during the ride there will be fun and games.  The cost is $30.00 which includes a $20.00 slot play vouchers received upon arrival to the casino.
