IT’S BACK! Our Annual Halloween Costume Contest

It’s that time of the year again, EllwoodCity.org will be holding our annual Halloween Costume Contest. Each year we have received dozens of entries – and 2020 will be no different!  Let’s make this year even more spooky or funny with your son or daughter’s costume photo submission! Submissions begin on October 30th and go on through end-of-business hours on Thursday, November 5th. All submitted photos will appear on EllwoodCity.org’s Facebook page on Friday, November 6 as a photo gallery. PHOTOS: Scarecrow Decorating Contest Held At Cambridge Pointe

Cambridge Pointe Personal Care Home held its 1st Annual “Scarecrow Decorating Contest” this week. Local businesses participated in the contest and provided seven “Spooktacular” scarecrows that were put on display at Cambridge Pointe for the residents to enjoy.  Voting took place and the winning scarecrow was scarecrow decorated by Grane Hospice. The event coordinators would like to thank the Senior Blue Book, Health Hut, Kindred Hospice, Anova Home Health & Hospice, Grane Hospice, Amedisys Home Health & Hospice, and Brighton Township Police for participating. ECASD to Assess Community Spread of Covid-19; Schools Not Closing Doors Yet

Ellwood City Area School District will access the community spread regarding Covid-19 on November 2nd to decide whether to keep schools open or transition to full-remote learning. According to information made available from the Borough of Ellwood City this week, the Ellwood City and Ellport Trick or Treat times have changed. New Castle Man Arrested In Child-Trafficking Sting Operation

A 33-year-old New Castle man is among several arrested this week in what Ohio law enforcement officials are calling “the largest anti-human trafficking bust” in state history. Jarod Mills, 33, of New Castle, is charged with felony attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, felony importuning or soliciting of an adolescent, felony possessing criminal tools, and felony displaying matter harmful to juveniles. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Hill View Manor Hosting Trick or Treat

On Sunday, October 25th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., school-age kids (ages 5-12) can visit a Scare Manor attraction (kid themed) and walk through a Truck n Treat area for treats at the Hill View Manor in New Castle. All admission fees for event will be donated to Shenango Township K-9 Unit. One nonpaying parent or guardian must accompany a minor at all times (up to 3 kids per adult). Lawrence County Action Group Announces Get-Out-The-Vote Rally

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 24th for a series of Lawrence County Blue Splash rallies. The Lawrence County Action is hosting a day of Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) rallies in Ellwood City & New Castle.
