Mary E. Zollum, 90

Mary E. Zollum, 90, of Mahoney Avenue, Ellport passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born in West Aliquippa on July 14, 1927, Mary was the daughter of the late Steve and Mary Golixer Novak.  Mary retired from Ro-Mar Textiles, formerly Dustproof, after 35 years of service.  A very active member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Mary was a member of its Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild.  She volunteered for over 25 years in the Holy Redeemer School cafeteria.  This last parish bazaar was the first Mary missed.  Mary was also a member of the Ellport Booster Club and the Hungarian Club.

Mary is survived by her son, William J. Zollum of Ellport, a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Bob Bolin of Westlake, OH, three grandsons; Matt, Rob and Michael Bolin, a great-granddaughter, Sophia Bolin and two sisters; Helen Evanson of Koppel and Margaret “Cookie” and Michael Billingsley of Oxford, MI.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Zollum, a sister, Vera Sammons and a brother, John Novak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 1:30 PM at Holy Redeemer Church.  Private interment will take place in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.  Christian Mothers members are asked to meet at the church at 1:15 PM to form the honor guard.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mary’s name to Holy Redeemer Church, 300 Crescent Ave., Suite 1, Ellwood City, PA  16117.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.
