Previous Council President Appointed Chairman on Housing Authority Committee

Previous Council President, Connie MacDonald, was appointed yesterday to an open seat on the Lawrence County Housing Authority committee – filling the unexpired term of authority chairman William Betz, who has moved out of the county.

MacDonald, who lost Ellwood City Council reelection in 2017 – ending his Council term officially in December, joins four other members, Rev. David Young, Debby Hennon, Lee Ann Fulena and Holly Girdwood, and will now represent Ellwood City Borough on the housing committee.

Out of six letters of interest, MacDonald was chosen after being nominated by Commissioner Bob Del Signore, who vouched for MacDonald’s involvements in Ellwood City and noted that the housing authority has two housing projects, Crescent Place and Walnut Ridge, in the borough.

Signore believes that out of the five authority members there should be at lease one on the committee from Ellwood City.

The authority’s meetings are public and convene at 5 p.m., the third Thursday of each month at the administrative office at Neshannock Village, 481 Neshannock Ave.

So that’s how you get on the Housing Committee….leave a legacy of debt and bad decision-making in your hometown where you served as Council President…lose an election by an embarrassing margin (in the PRIMARY, to a political NEWCOMER), and then cash in on as many political favors as you can, to get appointed to a government position.
