December Council Meeting Recap

Next Monday Ellwood City Council will be voting on some important topics including the 2018 budget and tax rate. Here are the official Suggested Items for Discussion at yesterday’s Council Committee Meeting:

 

FINANCE (Mancini, DeCaria, Ovial)

Resolution – adopt 2018 Budget

Ordinance – adopt 2018 Tax Rate, 8.75 mills

Authorize the Tax Collector to add the assessment of the EC Medical Center $9,395,000 to the 2017           tax duplicate

Payment – Rehrig Pacific Co. $6743.52 for Recycling Bins; pd from Recycling fund

 

HEALTH/PUBLIC SAFETY (Dici, Celli, Lamenza)

Address Changes – submitted by Lawrence Co.

Resolution – prohibiting the location of a Category 4 licensed casino

Advertise Ordinance – vacate portion of 5th Street from the south line of Rear Summit Avenue to the         north line of Aiken Avenue

Purchase 2017 Interceptor SUV from IbisTek $28,540 (Costar Pricing) & Upfitting of vehicle          $11,321.45; pd from General Cap Reserve

Purchase 10 Tasers from Axon Enterprise $13,200; Pd over 5 years in equal installments of $2640 +171.60S&H; pd from Drug Investigation Fund (pmt #1); pmts #2-#5 paid from General Fund

Approve Quote – Lutz, Briggs Schultz & Assoc. – re-side existing stucco walls at fire station $18,853; pd    from General Capital Reserve Fund

 

PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITIES (Celli, Dici, Lamenza)

Advertise Ordinance – electric service Rules & Regulations

Authorize – grant submission to Lawrence Co. for County Aid for road repairs to Beaver Avenue from 4th to 5th Street (concrete section or portions thereof)

Resolution – set PPA for electric rates for the next 6 months (Jan – June 2018)

Ellwood City Forge– credit sewage fees $43,635 due to a water leak

Resolution – Verizon Right of Way (public works site, 6th street)

 

PARKS/RECREATION (DeCaria, Mancini, Dici)

Girl Scout Cadettes (Troop 10524) to make improvements to West End Playground; requesting $1000-        $2000 toward supplies

 

ADMINISTRATION/PERSONNEL (Lamenza, Celli, Ovial)

Appointments – vacancies on Boards/Commissions

Adopt Ordinance – Code Book Updates

Resolution – Police Pension Contribution for 2018 – continue 3.5% until police contract is            settled

Wage Rates – Non-Union Full-Time & Part-Time 2018

2018 Standardized Billing Rates (Regular & OT rates)

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT/BUILDINGS (Ovial, DeCaria, Mancini)

Approve Stormwater Mgmt. Plan for Inmetco

Authorize – grant submission to Lawrence Co. for the demolition of blighted/abandoned property

Resolution – establish a 3 year Community Development Plan for CDBG purposes

Advertise Zoning Ordinance Amendment – lot size requirement in the C-3 District (amend min. lot width     to 22’)

Beaver Co. Repository – 525 Summit Ave, Generation N Enterprises, LLC, $1593
