Lincoln High Grad Leads BC3 Golfers to Victory Again

Butler, PA – Tyler Good, a 2017 Lincoln High graduate in his second appearance with the Butler County Community College golf team, shot a 9-over 81 Tuesday to lead the Pioneers to victories over Westmoreland County Community College and the Community College of Allegheny County-Boyce in BC3’s home opener at Lake Arthur Golf Club.

Good also fired a 4-over 76 Friday in sparking the Pioneers to an eight-stroke win over Westmoreland County Community College in Apollo.

Good, a late addition to BC3’s golf team, has been an unexpected surprise, coach Bill Miller said.

“He hits the ball off the tee well, long and fairly straight,” Miller said of Good. “Sometimes guys will hit the ball long but not know where it is going. He is consistently long and straight. (On Tuesday) he stayed away from the big numbers. If he has a bad hole, he makes only a bogey usually. Sometimes if a golfer is in a bind he will make a double or triple bogey. But when Tyler gets into trouble, he gets away with a single bogey.”

Good, Miller said, is driving the ball “between 240 and 265 yards,” Miller said. “And it could be a little longer.”

BC3’s Michael Rozzi, a 2016 Neshannock High graduate, shot an 85 on Tuesday; Matt Benson, a 2016 Shenango Area High graduate, fired an 88; and Luke Ostermeyer, a 2017 Laurel High graduate, had a 91 for BC3, which moved to 8-1 overall.

The Pioneers visit Community College of Allegheny County-North at noon Sunday at Pittsburgh North Golf Club, Bakerstown.
