Margaret Gioffre, 92

Margaret R. (Watson) Gioffre, of Koppel, died at home on July 1, 2017. Margaret’s husband, Lou Gioffre, died in 2002. They were happily married for 56 years.

Margaret had a real zest for life, and she lived it to the fullest. She valued her family above everything and enjoyed springtime, sitting on her back porch, challenging her brain with crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Sunday afternoons were frequently spent watching golf on TV. She especially enjoyed musical theater, had many favorites shows, and could sing along with many Broadway tunes. Margaret’s shared love of musicals, begun at summer stock performances in Warren Ohio, flourishes today in her children and grandchildren. Her favorite color was pink.

Margaret was a full-time mother and manager of the Gioffre household, and a loving and active grandparent. She also enjoyed employment outside the home for Bell of Pa. and Bob Garvin Real Estate.

In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ruth Watson Cearfoss and Eldon Watson; her brother, “Bud” Watson, and sister, Jane (Watson) Zurynski.

Margaret is survived by her son, Bob Gioffre (Laurette) of Harrisburg; daughter, Mem Stahley (Ed) of Rockledge, Florida, and daughter, Janie Reynolds (Jim), Clarion. Her grandchildren are Evonne Kopetchny, Elissa Harr, Melissa Fenstermaker, and Jim, Jason and Chris Hollingsworth. Great-grandchildren are Nikki and Susan Gramlich, Jacob, Joshua and Noah Harr, and Ben and Alice Hollingsworth. Margaret is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who all played a very important part in making her life full.

Margaret was a parishioner of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Ellwood City, Pa., and a former member of the Koppel Methodist Church.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. in her church. Friends and relatives will be received at MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME, Main Street, Wampum, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Margaret and her family owe a debt of gratitude to Grane Hospice Care for the gentle, sensitive and professional service provided to them. Finally, Margaret was especially thankful to her cousin Ruth Dewhurst, who lovingly looked after her health and household, and organized a team of caregivers who provided the care and comfort to enable her to remain in her home to the end of her life.
