PA One Book Event 2017

Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls.

The Library will be hosting a “Poetry Party” on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 am.  The PA One Book, Every Young Child Literacy Program selection, Daniel Finds a Poem by Micah Archer, winner of the 2017 Ezra Jack Keats Award will be the focus of the Poetry Party.  Experience how Daniel finds poetry in the world all around him.  Preschoolers and their families will enjoy fun stories, games, crafts, and a sensory table.  Each family who attends will receive a free copy.  Call the library to register at 724.846.4340.

Now in its 12th year, One Book, Every Young Child is a valuable program that highlights the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers and the significance of reading early and often to children, as well as engaging them in conversation and other activities around books. One Book, Every Young Child is made possible through a collaboration of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, The Carnegie Science Center, Pennsylvania Library Association, Pennsylvania Center for the Book, Pennsylvania’s Promise for Children, Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children and The Pennsylvania Child Care Association. This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
