Lawrence Lance, 88

Mr. Lawrence Lance, 88, of North Sewickley Twp. passed away on Monday, March 21, 2017 in the Rochester Manor.

Mr. Lance was born on January 10, 1929 in Ellwood City to the late Joseph and Ida Cagni Lance. He had graduated from Lincoln High School and watch makers school in Pittsburgh. Larry enlisted with the U.S. Army on September 11, 1946 and served with the Company 1 34th Infantry until his discharge on December 18, 1947 with the rank of Private First Class. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Larry had worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill, and the Armstrong Corkworks in Beaver Falls. He was also a passionate watch and clock maker. Larry was a hard working handyman and loved to whistle.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Lance of Tucson, AZ, his son, Joseph (Toni) Lance of North Sewickley Twp., his grandchildren, Eric Lance and Jason (Rachel) Lance, his great-grandchildren, Chase and Emilee Lance, his sisters, Dolores (Donald) McMichaels of Franklin Twp. and Katherine “Kitty” Anderson of Moon Twp., and his brother, Ray (Peggy) Lance of Ellwood City. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clara S. Owoc Lance whom he married on September 5, 1953 and passed away on September 10, 2013, and his sister, Geraldine “Gerry” Calve.

Visitation will held on Friday from 3-6 pm in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services.

A Service for Larry will be held on Friday at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home on Friday by 5:50 pm to conduct full military rites. Entombment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Resurrection Mausoleum. Mr. Lance’s family would like to thank the Northview Estates and the Rochester Manor for the wonderful care they gave to him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Lance’s name may be made to the Concord United Methodist Church or to the Meals on Wheels program.
