Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Aug. 8, 2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:

Tuesday, August 9, at 11:30 a.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. New members are always welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Wednesday, August 10, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. These weekly sessions are returning to Wednesday mornings now that summer is drawing to a close. Call the library for more information.

Wednesday, August 10, at 12:00 Noon – “Just 4 Girls,” a book discussion group for girls in 9th grade and up. The group will discuss the book, “The Beginning of Everything,” by Robyn Schneider. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, August 11, at 12:00 Noon – “Bookworms,” a book discussion group for students in 4th and 5th grades. The group will discuss the book, “Crenshaw,” by Katherine Applegate. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, August 11, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group. This group meets year-around to work on individual projects and socialize with others who love knitting. Members provide their own materials. New members are always welcome, so call the library now for more information.

Thursday, August 11, at 6:30 p.m. — “Fairy Tale Theater,” a program designed for preschoolers and early elementary-aged children and their families, will be held on three consecutive Thursday evenings in August: the 11th, 18th and 25th. The program features puppet plays presented by teen performers. Only floor seating is available. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.

“Movie Nights for Adults” are held monthly throughout the year and feature new-to-DVD films. The next “movie night” is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24, at 6:00 p.m. All area adults are welcome to attend at no charge. Refreshments are served. Call the library now for more information or to find out the titles of the movie to be shown.

The library is now accepting donations of books for the annual Book Sale scheduled for October 3-8. Books of all types in good condition are welcomed. The library will NOT accept any encyclopedias, no textbooks, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed books and no VHS tapes. Donations may be dropped off at the library during normal business hours. Call for more information.
