Herman L. Feldman, 90

Herman L. Feldman, 90, local attorney, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his residence.

He was born in Ellwood City on June 27, 1925, to the late Morris Feldman and the late Lena Lipshitz Feldman.  He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, class of 1942, and later the University of Pittsburgh.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Law School.  Herman was a well-known local attorney for many years and was a member of the Lawrence County Bar Association and practiced law for over 60 years.  He was a longtime member of the former Tree of Life Synagogue in Ellwood City, and later Agudath Achim in Beaver Falls, and currently Temple Hadar Israel Congregation in New Castle.  Herman was community minded. He served two terms on the Ellwood City Area School Board. He was a longtime member and former President of the Ellwood City Rotary Club and the former Kiwanis Club.  He sponsored a nursing scholarship at Rotary in honor of his wife, Annette.   He was a founder, in the 1950’s, and member of the Ellwood City Contract Bridge group.  He enjoyed gardening and made his own homemade jelly.

Herman was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, Annette L. Cohen Feldman. They were married in 1965, and she died February 9, 2007.  He was also preceded by two brothers, Jacob S. Feldman, on June 19, 2015 and Irving S. Feldman on July 13, 2013.

He is survived by his son, Ralph N. Feldman (and his wife Joni Ondra), of Pittsburgh, and by one sister, Esther Schmerling of Arden, DE, as well as two nieces and three nephews.

Friends may gather prior to services on Friday, May 13 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Tifereth Israel Cemetery in Neshannock Twp.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, Ellwood City.
