Corona D’Italia Valentines Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with a pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by trustee Pudue LaCava, member Jackie Court and sentinel Lois DiFrischia. The business session followed with financial reports presented by treasurer Louise Vitullo. She noted that 2016 yearly dues are payable by contacting her.

Orator Valerie Valentino, Chairman of the Corona D’Italia Memorial Scholarship, presented the requirements for senior students to apply for the $500 Lodge scholarship. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of an active member of the Corona D’Italia or Sons of Italy #608. They are to contact their guidance counselors for necessary forms to apply. Valentino or Sirimarco may be contacted for any questions.

Plans for the next monthly meeting were finalized and St. Patrick’s Day will be honored with an Irish stew luncheon on Wednesday, March 9 at Pizza Joe’s at 5 p.m. It is requested that Vitullo be advised if members will be attending.

Continuing the Valentine party, Valentino, aided by DiFrischia, conducted a Valentine gift exchange among the members. A Valentine-decorated table prepared and provided by Valentino, featured bags of treats tied with a red or pink heart decorated scarf which she presented to every member. They donned their scarves and were photographed by the MC, Mary Quintanilla. She also provided the photo album that she has created with pictures of every function. Vice-President Ann Butchelli provided an update on the Lodge’s 100th Anniversary memories that she is compiling. She also recognized her daughter-in-law member Christine Butchelli, in attendance following her recent surgery.

Social games conducted by Valentino, DiFrischia, trustee Patty Regna, Quintanilla and member Mary Jane Folino concluded the session. LaCava won the door prize basket provided by Valentino.
