The Riverside Pool Is Open This Summer

According to the Riverside Beaver County School District website, the Riverside Pool is reopening this summer for lap swimming, lessons, family swimming, and more. The schedule is as follows: Daily lap swimming from 7:30 a.m. to noon Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; Family swimming from 12:30-4 p.m. Monday-Friday; Scheduled pool parties from 12:30-4 p.m. Monday-Friday; Water Zumba from 10-10:45 a.m. on Saturdays. Water Zumba classes began June 11th and are offered at a $5.00 fee per class. There is a $2.00 entry fee to use the pool. Riverside Swim Team Defends Section Title, Eyes WPIAL Championships

For a fourth consecutive year, the Riverside High School Swim Team has earned section championship bragging rights. The boys finished a perfect 8-0 in their Class-AA section with their latest victory against the Beaver Bobcats on February 17th The co-op swimming team consisting of Ellwood City and Riverside athletes will next look towards defending various titles at the WPIAL Championships later this week, Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Petrak Among Twelve Ohio State Swimmers Taking Part In Olympic Trials

Taylor Petrak is among 12 Ohio State University men’s and women’s swimmers that will be competing this weekend, June 4-7, in Omaha, Neb., during Wave I competition. The trials are being held at the CHI Health Center, in Omaha. Petrak, a 5’8″ Buckeye Senior, will compete in the 50-yard freestyle.  The Ellwood native is the daughter of Patti and Jay Petrak. The trials are being split into a Wave I and a Wave II trials this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to USA Swimming. Former LHS Graduate Petrak Helps Lead Buckeyes To Big Ten Championship

Ohio State won the title at the Big Ten women’s swimming and diving championship Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa, and former Lincoln High School graduate and swimming standout Taylor Petrak was a big part of the Buckeye’s first Big Ten title since 1986. The 5’9″ junior was part of a victorious 200 freestyle relay team that set a pool record time of 1:27.57. RACE Swim Team Hosting Tryouts

Local Woman Qualifies For Olympic Swimming Trials

She never imagined she would have the chance to do what she loves on a world stage. Taylor Petrak, 2017 Lincoln High School Graduate, has qualified for the Olympic Swimming Trials. As a very young “fish in the water,” Taylor didn’t necessarily have her sights set directly on the Olympics. “I never had any specific goals of making it to the Olympics,” she said. “It was not on my radar.” But a wave of talent and speed now has the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics in a major spot on Taylor’s radar.
