Due to the new guidelines of mask requirements, the Stiefel Park Hockey summer session has been cancelled. Originally, the decision had been made for the summer league to start after the 4th of July weekend, due to restrictions in Pennsylvania and many players traveling the country for vacations. Bernstine Says $682,923 in State Grants Approved for Beaver, Lawrence Counties

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) awarded a total of $682,923 for regional development projects in Beaver and Lawrence counties. In Beaver County, Mycelia Development, LLC was awarded a $448,953 grant to construct a 16,670-square-foot cultural life and arts center within the downtown core of Beaver Falls. Turn4Toilets, Big Rigs and Goaldiggers Win Championship in Their Respective League

The last night of the Summer Stiefel Hockey League was incredible. Three league winners claimed stakes to their championship accolades. Ellwood City School Board Expresses Disappointment Over Fireworks; Discusses School Start Times, Fields

The Ellwood City Area School District Board addressed the public on Monday night regarding blame placed on them by the Festival Committee for the cancelation of the Festival’s traditional fireworks display. Borough to Apply for Grant: Funds Earmarked for Stiefel Park

Ellwood City Council members unanimously voted to adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to DCNR in an amount of $250,000 for improvements to Stiefel Park. According to Borough Manager, David Allen, the grant will require matching funds by the borough. He said showing the matching funds to the DCNR will not be a problem with help from Marcellus Shale funds as well as the Park Improvement Fund. Stiefel Hockey Fall Session Wrapup: Darkness, The Alchemists Take Titles

Two local roller hockey teams collected recent championships in the Stiefel Hockey Fall League.  The A League champions were Darkness, who had bested Rage 5-1 in the finale, while The Alchemists claimed a repeat championship in the B League. Darkness finished the fall season with a 7-1 regular season record and the team led the A League in goal differential. Jake Hopper led Darkness with 23 points (15 goals, 8 assists) during the fall session regular season. Stiefel Park Roller Hockey concluded their 2018 summer session Wednesday evening with three teams declaring victory in their respective divisions. Due to the number of teams this season, the league was able to create three divisions based on experience and competitiveness.  The A league housed four teams of experienced players both young and old. Age did not deter the high caliber game play during the season and playoffs this season.
