Tar & Chipping Continues On Roadways In Franklin Township

Tar and chipping is tentatively scheduled for several roadways in Franklin Township beginning today. Tar & Chipping is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 2nd for the following roads: Butler, Chateau, Circle, County Line, Emerald, Fire, Forest Grove, Frances, Franklin, Glad, Hansen, Knox, Lillyville, Lookout, Morningstar, Morrison, Nicholson, Pander Hollow, Pinshot, Raymond, Rose, Silver, Stiefel, Tara, Vine Way, and Virginia. The township asks that residents and drivers please do not park on the road or mow grass clippings onto the road. Route 288 Seal Coating To Begin July 14th

Starting Sunday, July 14, PennDOT maintenance crews will begin seal coating operations on Route 288 in Franklin Township. According to a press release, crews will start at the county line near Zelienople, working westbound toward Route 65. Once the westbound lane is complete, they’ll turn around and seal coat the eastbound lane back toward Zelienople. At least one state road off Route 288 is also scheduled for seal coating during this project according to the township. Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing the reopening of a section of Zelienople Road (Route 288) in Franklin Township, Beaver County, will occur Thursday, November 4 weather permitting. A section of Zelienople Road between Lake Road and Old Furnace Road is expected to reopen to traffic by 5 p.m. Thursday.  The roadway has been closed continuously since July 26 for the Route 288 realignment project sponsored by the Zelienople Airport Authority.  Additionally, Lake Road (Route 1010) will open by 5 p.m. Thursday. Route 288 Realignment Project Ongoing, On Track For Completion As Scheduled

Barring any unforeseen field issues, the realignment and construction of Route 288 near the Zelienople Airport in on track for completion as scheduled. The roadway is currently closed and under detour as part of a 102-day closure for the realignment project. According to PENNDOT spokesperson Steve Cowan, the contractor anticipates completing the work within the contract parameters.
