The Ellwood City boys basketball team returns to the WPIAL Playoffs as a 9-seed while the Riverside Panthers boys basketball team earned a 14-seed in the 2026 WPIAL Class 3A Championships. The Riverside girls basketball team has clinched a playoff berth and wrapped up its regular season Thursday with a 52-13 victory over New Brighton. A pair of Emmas will now lead the charge for the Lady Panthers as they forge their way in to the WPIAL Class 3A Playoffs. “Emma Meyer is a tireless worker and Emma Stockman just comes up big game after game,” says first year head coach John Fruehstorfer. Emma Meyers knocked home four 3-pointers and scored a game high 14 points to lead Riverside to a 46-17 victory over Ellwood City on Monday. Meyers was among eight Panthers that scored in the rivalry victory. Meyer Leads Scoring Charge, Lady Panthers Improve To 3-1 On Season

Emma Meyer led the scoring charge for the Lady Panthers as the Riverside girls basketball team picked up two victories over the past week. Meyer knocked home three 3-pointers and scored a game high 24 points Monday night as the Lady Panthers rallied to knock off Sewickley Academy 50-46. Riverside trailed 36-34 entering the final quarter. Emma Stockton joined Meyer in double figures with 11 points and also hauled in 14 rebounds for a double-double. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lions 60-7 to help run their regular season record to 14-8 Overall. DeLana Fox and Camryn Friello each scored 11 points for Riverside. The Lady Panthers bested rival Ellwood City 54-50 Monday evening at Riverside High School. Camryn Friello connected on four 3-pointers, including two in a pivotal fourth quarter, en route to her game-high 16 points to lead Riverside. The inside-outside duo of Darren McDade and Drake Fox combined to score 36 points as the Riverside Panthers defeated New Brighton 69-58 Wednesday night. Fox drained four 3-pointers on the evening while McDade poured in 12 first half points to lead the victors.
