WPIAL Playoffs Are Set: Defending Champs Rule Supreme

After the conclusion of stellar regular seasons for two local sporting clubs, the WPIAL announced its Championship Brackets with no surprises to those who follow the programs – Ellwood City Wolverines softball (15-0 overall) and Riverside Panthers baseball (15-1 overall) teams received top seeds and byes in their respective Class-3A Championship brackets. Baseball/Softball Recap: Ellwood City and Riverside Pick up Wins

The Ellwood City girls softball team won their first conference game against New Brighton 14-0 in a total shutout yesterday. The game was secured in the first two innings by 11 runs. New Brighton had no hits the entire game. Camille Maine had four RBIs, while the team total was 14. Freshman Anna Ferrucci had three hits and three runs, the highest for each. Pitcher Skyla Greco had 14 strikeouts and zero hits against. The Lady Panthers host Laurel tomorrow.
