Jordan Keller competed in the WPIAL Class 2A Golf Finals Wednesday at Sewickley Heights Country Club, qualifying for the PIAA Championships with a two-day total of 160 (+16), good enough for T-15 overall among the 38 golfers. Keller became just the 2nd Ellwood City golfer in the last 30 year to qualify for the PIAA Golf Championships in State College. Keller advanced to the championships after his performance last week. Panthers Fall To Punxsutawney In Opening Round Of PIAA Playoffs

The Riverside Panthers fell to Punxsutawney 3-0 Monday afternoon in the first round of the PIAA Playoffs. Parker Stahlman twirled a complete-game four hitter to stymie the Panthers offense and bounced the defending PIAA champions from the 2024 tournament. The sophomore hurler struck out eight and did not issue a walk in his performance that pitted two teams who had squared off just last June in the PIAA semifinals.  Riverside rallied late to knocked off Punxsutawney on its way to its 2023 PIAA Championship. Nine Local Athletes Competing In PIAA Track & Field Championships

The relay team of Nick Wise, Bradley Custer, Drew Steffler, and Colten Crizer will be four of the six Ellwood City athletes competing in the PIAA Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA. The 4×800 Meter relay team will be joined by WPIAL 300m hurdle champion Nick Franitti and female high jumper Delaney Sturgeon. Ellwood City used a second half surge to pull away and defeat District 6 Champion Westmont 62-44 in the opening round of the PIAA 3A Playoffs on Saturday. The Wolverines held the Hilltoppers to only 12 points in the second half and recovered from three point deficit in the process. Joseph Roth led all scorers with 31 points. Riverside Panther senior Lexi Fluharty posted a 3rd overall finish in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country individual championships at Parkview XC Course in Hershey, PA on Saturday. Fluharty, who won the WPIAL Championship last month, finished with an overall time of 19:28 on Saturday. Her time and finish was the best finish by a WPIAL District 7 participant.
