You either love it or you hate it, but regardless of how you feel about the snow there’s no denying it has blanketed Ellwood City overnight. Last year during December we had hardly any snow and the average temperatures were in the 50’s and upwards. Despite this year’s snow, there are many townspeople out and about, some cleaning their cars off and others going in and out of the stores on Lawrence Avenue. The Chamber of Commerce did a great job organizing all of the events, which included Light Up Night, Christmas in the Park, and a Christmas parade. Decorated and ready for this weekend’s Ellwood City Municipal Woman’s House Tour is the DeSanzo house, located at 417 Hazel Ave. The home features several Christmas trees, mangers, and a Christmas village set up above the cabinets – to name just a few iconic decorations! One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Leavens household, located at 405 Pershing St., in Ellwood City, is the second home on the list to be decorated for the event. A common theme throughout the household is music; from music note ornaments to dancing Christmas characters, Lynn Leavens said that her late father is the inspiration to having musically themed decorations. “My father loved music, he used to play instruments and he’s been the inspiration for the musically themed decor. One of the Ellwood City Municipal Women House Tour homes, the Bissell household, located at 3302 River Road in Ellwood City, is the first home on the list to be decorated for the event. Though the family still has a few decorations to finish putting up, the majority of work has been completed. From flamboyant nutcrackers to a surfin’ Santa, home owner Teresa Bissell stated that her favorite decoration is the Dr. Seuss tree. After one quarter, things looked bright for the Wolverines as the early score was only 7-0 Central Valley, but…football is a four-quarter sport. You can even say the Wolverines had a decent second half only giving up another 7 points there. However, the second quarter turned out to be the big blow for the Wolverines as 4 scores alone in the quarter put things out of reach by halftime in the resulting 42-7 Central Valley victory on Friday night. The Holy Redeemer 5lst Annual Bazaar started Wednesday, August 2 and will run through Saturday August 5. The excitement and fun begin at 6:00 p.m. nightly and runs until 10:00 p.m. on the Holy Redeemer Catholic Center grounds. The Bazaar features entertainment for the whole family. ‘Creating memorable events were the new inflatable bounces for young children who really had an enjoyable time. The annual Ellwood City Arts, Crafts & Food Festival took place this past weekend and those exhibiting and attending enjoyed beautiful weather and included a wide variety of activities, performances and vendors for everyone in the Ellwood City community to enjoy! In the annual 10k race, which took place Saturday morning, Ellwoodian Doug Petrik was victorious yet again. The Festival Committee is all volunteer and the Committee is a non-profit organization, solely in existence as the driving force to make the Festival happen!
