Lucarelli Signs With Duke University

Riverside Panther standout pitcher Christian Lucarelli officially signed his commitment to pitch at Duke University on Wednesday afternoon. The 6′ 3″ 215-pound senior is ranked the #3 player in the Pennsylvania 2025 class (111 nationally). The right-hander started and led the Panthers to a WPIAL Championship and PIAA Class 3A title in 2023. Lucarelli struck out seven batters across 3 2/3 innings in May but the Panthers could not repeat as WPIAL Champions, falling to Avonworth in an epic 14-inning championship game. Panthers Split Tip-Off Tournament, Turn Focus To Regular Season

The Riverside Panthers boys basketball regular season got under way this past week as the team traveled to participate in two, separate tip-off tournaments. The team settled with a split, defeating Wilmington on Friday before falling to Mercer on Saturday. On Friday, Drake Fox erupted for 20 points to lead the Panthers to its 49-26 victory. The junior connected on four 3-pointers. Riverside held a sizeable 27-11 halftime advantage on its way to the tournament victory. Two Riverside Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against Avonworth Riverside Panthers defeated Avonworth 10-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Nick Ottaviani struck out Patrick Gannon to finish off the game, finishing off a phenomenal start by Riverside starter Gunner Boehm. The Panthers fired up the offense in the first inning, and scored two runs when Boehm helped his own cause with a homer. Riverside tallied four runs in the fifth inning. Weekly High School Basketball Team Recaps

This week the Ellwood City Boys Varsity team played a very close game against Rochester, defeating them by a mere two points. Rochester took the lead in the second quarter but Ellwood regained control in the third and fourth, ending the game with a close 64-62 victory. Forward Sean Busby was recognized as the “player of the game.” Tonight the Ellwood City Wolverines will face off against their long-time rival, the Panthers at Riverside High School. Riverside Players to be Presented with WPIAL Championship Rings

Tomorrow the players of Riverside’s 2017 varsity baseball team will be receiving their WPIAL Championship rings during the basketball match against Ellwood City. This is the fifth year for Riverside to win the WPIAL Championship. The team won their 2017 season 19-2, losing their last game to Central. Riverside, Ellwood City Students to Appear on KDKA’s High Q

On Saturday, October 21, 2017, students from Riverside and Ellwood were at KDKA studios, One Gateway Center in Pittsburgh, for the taping of Home Town High Q. Ellwood students Molly McCommons, Kyle Smith and Noah Rinker and Riverside students Morgan Deiseroth, Ari Kendra and Colby Belczyk represented the schools in the competition. Riverside competed alongside Ellwood City against Waynesburg. The students compete against the rival teams by answering questions over subjects taught in school, similar to how Jeopardy is played. Riverside Football Tickets on Sale

After Riverside successfully defeated Frazier on Friday night, they are now preparing for the second playoff game this Friday Night against Avonworth. The game will be played at Seneca Valley at 7:30p.m. Tickets will be on sale this Wednesday in the high school athletic office from 7:50a.m.-10-50a.m. Then tickets will be sold in the middle school and elementary lunches from 10:50a.m.-12:30p.m. Finally, tickets will be on sale in the athletic office again from 12:30p.m.- 1:30p.m. Student tickets are $5 and adult tickets are $7. All tickets will be $7 at the gate.


Girls and Boys Soccer in the WPIAL PLAYOFFS

Both the Riverside Girls and Boys Soccer Teams qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs. The boys will play first as they play this Saturday, October 21 at 3PM at North Allegheny High School as they take on Freeport High School.  The bus will leave from the high school K- Center parking lot at 1 PM. Riverside Sophomores Advance to Golf PIAA Finals

Riverside Sophomores, Skylar Fox and Justin Hand advanced to the PIAA Individual Golf Finals next week in Hershey. Both will compete in the state finals based on their performance in the western finals.
