Mayor’s Advisory Meeting Recap

On Thursday, May 25, 2017 the Mayor’s Advisory Committee met in Mayor Courts Office. Discussion included the parking ticket issue on Wampum Avenue, complaints voiced concerning a large black dog around Crestview and Skyline Drive. Mayor Court is urging people to trim their hedges when they get too high so that they do not obstruct traffic. The fight against drugs continues with 393 arrests since Mayor Court took office. For the past six years, Mayor Court has presented to area residents a special “Beautification Award” sign along with a local restaurant gift certificate. This year the first Award went to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Loraine Buzzelli of Meadowridge Drive. The Buzzelli’s were nominated by an undisclosed resident who felt that the Buzzelli’s had spend considerable time and effort into making their home surroundings extra special. Mayor Warns of IRS Phone Scam

Mayor Court has received several phone calls from residents about the “IRS” asking for money for back taxes. Once again several residents (especially elderly residents) are being targeted by phone calls stating that they owe the IRS money for back taxes or fees due to them. The caller tells the resident they must return their call or the IRS (SCAMMER) will begin the procedure to prosecute them for money owed. Rep. Aaron Bernstine Endorses Mayoral Candidates

Today, State Representative Aaron Bernstine formally endorsed incumbent mayoral candidates Anthony Court of Ellwood City and George Quay of Beaver Falls.  Both Court and Quay will be on the Democratic ballot in the primary election to be held on May 16th.  Both mayors are also seeking write-in votes to secure positions on the Republican ticket for the general election in November. Beautification Awards 2017

Mayor Court has announced today that the Ellwood City community will once again turn their properties into beautiful landscapes, bring the neighborhoods back to life for everyone to enjoy. This will be the 7th year that Mayor Court will present “Beautification Awards” and restaurant certificates to six (6) area residents who are nominated for taking pride in their properties throughout Ellwood City. Mayor Presents Tamburitzan Commendation

On Sunday, April 9, 2017 The Tamburitzans from Pittsburgh PA performed in Ellwood City. Mayor Court proclaimed April 9, 2019 as “Tamburitzans Day” in Ellwood City, by presenting a Proclamation at the Ellwood City Rotary Club meeting in March. Alena Kucan, who is from Ellwood City was also presented with a commendation by Mayor Court for her outstanding performance and she is viewed by many as a “ROLE MODEL” for the young adults throughout the region. One of the most extravagant shows, the Tamburitzans – starring a Lincoln High graduate, is coming to Ellwood City this Sunday and tickets are still available! Ellwood City School District Forced to Hire Private Security for Games

There have been rumors going around that Ellwood City School District will no longer be provided with Ellwood City police officers for security at their high school sporting events, leaving it up to the school district to hire a private security company. Though Ellwood City’s Mayor, Anthony Court, confirmed the rumors to be true, he said said the issue is likely to be temporary.
