Venezie Sporting Goods & Apparel has announced its annual scholarship opportunity for area students this year.  The scholarship, now in its third year, will be available to four local school districts. “We love our community and we love our students, and it is time we continue to recognize them for all their hard work inside and outside of the classroom,” said Vice President of Operations, Vanessa Venezie. LHS Class of ’57 Awards Two Scholarships

Two Lincoln High School students received scholarships from the Lincoln High School Class of 1957. Hannah Rose Keally is this year’s recipient of the $5,000 scholarship given by the Lincoln High School Class of 1957 while Levi Alexander Smith received the $500 best essay award from the Class of ’57. Hannah is majoring in fashion design in the College of Arts at Kent State University which gave her a president’s achievement award and an honors distinction award. Lincoln High School Posts Return to School Plan Survey For Parents

Ellwood City Area School District announced on Tuesday a ‘Return to School Plan Survey’ for Lincoln High School parents via a Google Forms survey published on the district site. [The district is] asking all parents of students in grades 7-12 complete the google form survey by Sunday, August 16 at 10:00 PM. Ellwood City Historical Society Scholarship Winners

On Wednesday June 3, the Ellwood City Area Historical Society awarded the Robert and Janice Barensfeld Scholarships.  Under adverse conditions due to the Covid 19, the awards had been delayed.  Two graduating students attending higher education were selected from several entries Gabrielle Louise Gretch, Riverside High School and is the daughter of Dan and Alice Gretch; essay was titled “The Selfless War Hero.”  Gabrielle will attend Shadyside School of Nursing this fall. Lincoln Class of 2020 Parade Set For Tuesday; Community Participation Encouraged

June 2 will be a big day for Lincoln’s class of 2020. Not only will the graduates be featured in a graduate parade, but they will in fact get to have one last moment together in their caps and gowns thanks to the county moving to the green phase. Lincoln Principal Kirk Lape said before the parade, seniors will gather in the auditorium for the traditional “tassle turn.” At that time the graduates will turn their tassles from right to left signifying their accomplishment. Lincoln High School Planning Commencement For Class of 2020

Despite the pandemic, the Ellwood City Area School District is working to give its class of 2020 graduates plenty of “pomp and circumstance.” Administrators, including High School Principal Kirk Lape, have been brainstorming and coordinating a ceremony that will be as close to the real thing as possible in a way to honor each graduating senior. “Our goal is to make commencement as close to normal as possible,” Lape said. ECASD Food Service Staff Going Above and Beyond to Feed Area Students

Keeping kids fed during a pandemic is a challenge, but it’s one that the Ellwood City Area School District’s Food Service staff and volunteers continues to conquer. John Dzurina, Food Service Director for the district, said the successful operation would not be possible without the daily determination of his staff and volunteers. Dzurina said on average 920 kids are fed per day. With a healthy and filling breakfast and lunch both being served, that adds up to about 1,840 meals per day. Ellwood City Police Officers Make Donation Towards LHS Field Trip

Mayor Anthony Court and Lt. David Kingston representing the Ellwood City Police Officers make a donation towards an annual field trip for Lincoln High School students, Teacher Mr. Gaibis, U.S. Advanced Placement Government and Politics class. The students will be attending a Pennsylvania Supreme Court session in Philadelphia in March of 2020.  The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania is the highest court in the Commonwealth and the oldest appellate court in the nation. Ellwood City will be pre-selling basketball tickets for the Tuesday, January 14th basketball game against Riverside. Ellwood City High School will presale Student tickets for $2.00.
