The Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department has announced a new workshop in December. Backyard Composting & Rain Barrel Workshop Planned

The Lawrence County Conservation District and the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department are partnering to offer another one of their popular workshops about backyard composting and stormwater management. “Our last compost/rain barrel workshop was huge success with almost 40 registrants,” says Director Jerry P. The annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at Ewing Park, Ellwood City from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be vendors, food provided by INMETCO, musicians, and childrens activities. The class is set for Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  It will be held at the Albert P. Gettings Annex (the former church) across the street from the Lawrence County Courthouse.  Attendees can enter through the doors facing the courthouse on Milton Street. Nearly $385,000 Awarded To Help Local Students Stay Connected

NEW CASTLE – Grant funding of $383,660 will help ensure students in two Lawrence County school districts don’t fall behind because they lack the tech tools to stay connected. According to information made available on the Lawrence County government website, polling locations for Ellwood City and surrounding locations are as follows. Lawrence County Announces $500M In Grant Funding For Paving Projects

Lawrence County is announcing $523,291.51 in grant funding for municipal paving projects through the Lawrence County Transportation Improvement Program, assisting with $1,590,708.04 in total paving project cost for 21 projects in 14 municipalities. “We’re glad to be able to assist our municipalities with this much needed infrastructure funding.
