Backyard Composting & Rain Barrel Workshop Planned

The Lawrence County Conservation District and the Lawrence-Mercer Recycling/Solid Waste Department are partnering on a workshop about backyard composting and stormwater management. The class is set for Tuesday evening, November 16, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  It will be held at the Albert P. Gettings Annex (the former church) across the street from the Lawrence County Courthouse.  Attendees can enter through the doors facing the courthouse on Milton Street. Nearly $385,000 Awarded To Help Local Students Stay Connected

NEW CASTLE – Grant funding of $383,660 will help ensure students in two Lawrence County school districts don’t fall behind because they lack the tech tools to stay connected. Lawrence County sports just had its greatest year in history, and now the area is about to get an upgrade to its live coverage of the “County of Champions.” The Lawrence County SportsNet Powered by LCCAP is announcing the launch of their broadcasting network for the beginning of the 2021-22 scholastic year. According to information made available on the Lawrence County government website, polling locations for Ellwood City and surrounding locations are as follows. Registered voters can cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 18 at their designated polling place, and those voting by mail-in or absentee ballot should drop their ballots off at the Lawrence County Courthouse by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Lawrence County Announces $500M In Grant Funding For Paving Projects

Lawrence County is announcing $523,291.51 in grant funding for municipal paving projects through the Lawrence County Transportation Improvement Program, assisting with $1,590,708.04 in total paving project cost for 21 projects in 14 municipalities. “We’re glad to be able to assist our municipalities with this much needed infrastructure funding. Animal Cruelty Investigation Case In Lawrence County

According to a Pennsylvania State Police Troop D Press Release, an animal cruelty investigation report was file in Washington Township, Lawrence County last week. According to the report, and on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m., PA State Police assisted Lawrence County Humane Officer and responded to 535 Rabbit Haven Lane, just northeast of New Castle, in reference to an Animal cruelty complaint. $1 Million Grant Will Fund New Training Center For Electrical Trade In Lawrence County

NEW CASTLE – A $1 million grant from the state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program will fund a state-of-the-art electrical apprenticeship training center for Lawrence County, state Rep.
