Stage Stores (Gordman’s) Files Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Although the Ellwood City Gordman’s location in the Franklin Plaza just celebrated its grand opening on February 18, 2020, after a successful conversion from the former Peebles, the retailer has filed for bankruptcy. Gordmans to Open Ellwood Location in February with Grand Opening Brand Bash

Apparel and home décor retailer Gordmans will replace Peebles in Franklin Plaza on Route 288 and will open its doors on February 18 at 9 a.m. The grand opening festivities will kick off with a ribbon cutting and follow with a $1,000 donation presented to Riverside Beaver County School District. The opening is one of 23 in Pennsylvania for the retailer. Gordmans Announces Hiring Event

In anticipation of a previously announced changeover from Peebles to Gordmans, there will be a hiring event hosted at all 23 Gordman locations in Pennsylvania this month. While the changeover will be official at all Peebles locations in Pennsylvania on February 18, corporate owner Stage Stores Inc. announced the event will be on January 7 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Locally, the event will be held at the Franklin Plaza on Route 288 and at the store in Neshannock Township at 3332 Wilmington Road. Peebles in Franklin Plaza to Become Gordmans

The store closing sign on the front of the Peebles store in Franklin Plaza signifies an end but also a new beginning. “Stage has exciting news,” said Blakely Graham, manager of brand publicity for Stage. “We are planning to convert the Peebles location in Ellwood City, Pa to a Gordmans store in early 2020.” Both Gordmans and Peebles are part of the Stage community of stores, which also includes Bealls, Goody’s, Palais Royal, and Stage.
