Thousands of visitors flocked to the grounds to enjoy local food, crafts, and plenty of entertainment during the 2023 Ellwood City Arts, Crafts & Foods Festival. While warm and clear weather greeted patrons on Friday, heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday made for a soggy end to the annual festival.  Amid the rain on Sunday, the scheduled fireworks took place as scheduled. Christ Presbyterian Celebrating Its 40th Boar’s Head Festival

Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City is celebrating its 40th year of the “Boar’s Head Festival”. Presented at least as early as 1346 in Oxford, England, the Boar’s Head, and yule log ceremony is probably the oldest continuous festival of the Christmas season. The one-hour presentation celebrates the birth of Christ and features music conducted by Dan Forsberg, and accompanied by the Ellwood City Civic Chorale and organist David DeCaria. Eric Rayner —Face of the Fireworks—to be Inducted into Festival Hall of Fame

He will forever be known as the man on a mission to save the Festival fireworks. Eric Rayner, 26, of Ellport wasn’t going to let the 2019 Festival go on without the beloved fireworks. Joe Ferrara—A Founding Father—to be Inducted into Festival Hall of Fame

Joe Ferrara is no stranger to the stage, and that charisma and charm is what made him the perfect person to lead and organize the entertainment at the Festival. Ferrara one of the Festival’s founders was there from day one and even before that. Festival Chairwoman Raylene Boots revealed a little history and told a story of a pre-Festival entertainment event that Ferrara helped to organize. Fireworks Fundraiser Surpasses Goal: $9,000 Donated So Far

Ellwood City will not only have its fireworks display this year at the festival, it will be a display with some extra bang. Eric Rayner the 26-year-old Ellport man who has been the face of the Save The Ellwood City Fireworks fundraiser announced on May 9 that the $5,000 goal was met and an additional $4,00o was raised bringing the current total to $9,000. Rayner said, based on community input, any money raised over the original goal will be split 45 percent toward a larger fireworks display and 55 percent saved for next year’s display. “It’s been an honor to…


$4,357 Raised for Fireworks; Still Time to Donate

Fireworks Fundraiser draws closer to $5,000 goal. “We’ve received many donations and t shirt orders from people in the community and some people who don’t even live here,” said Eric Rayner, organizer of the fundraiser. “I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of such an amazing community.” As of May 6, $4,357 has been raised toward the $5,000 goal. The most recent donation was made by Bud Mazzant in combination with Berkshire Hathaway of Cranberry. They donated $500.
