Ellwood Quality Steels Celebrates Milestone
ELLWOOD Quality Steels (EQS) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, celebrated a significant milestone by producing the 250,000th heat in the melt shop that opened in 1985. A heat is a batch of steel that is melted in the 45-ton electric arc furnace and poured into molds to create bottom-poured ingots. EQS is a leading producer of carbon, alloy, tool and stainless steel ingots that support forging, ring rolling and heavy plate applications in sophisticated and critical products for the aerospace, defense, space, and energy industries.
