United Fund Announces 20% Cut in Allotments to Service Agencies

The Ellwood City United Fund closed the 2017 campaign on January 31, and was $ 9358.00 short of its goal of $ 50,000.00. It was hoped that donations through the spring months would fill the gap created by the shortage of the campaign. This did not happen and it is now approaching the time for the first disbursement of funds to our service agencies. The first disbursement is planned for July 10, 2017. Several local athletes qualified for states during the Track WPIAL Championships yesterday held at Baldwin High School. POLICE: Two Businesses – Nearly 30 Propane Tanks Stolen

According to the police reports, two businesses have had several propane tanks stolen over several recent nights. Between the nights of May 6, 9, and 16, Industrial Equipment Fabrications had 5 total tanks stolen. Each tank full and weighing 33lbs. Total approximate loss of $1,150.00. Adams Manufacturing reported an overnight burglary the night of the 12, with 23 propane tanks stolen for a total approximate loss of $3,450.00. Video surveillance is being reviewed with further investigation.

Ellwood City Primary Election Results

The primary election results for Ellwood City and surrounding Lawrence County areas have been posted on Lawrence County’s official website. Republican incumbents, Connie MacDonald and David DeCaria lost to their challengers, running mates Rob Brough, John Cress, Brandon Fisher, and Lisa Guerrera, by over 100 votes. According to the site, Guerrera led the Republican party with 323 votes, Brough followed closely behind with 320, Cress with 305, and Fisher with 285. Open Street Event to Celebrate Phase One of Bike Route

Updated: 5/19 at 8am: The Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is excited to be hosting an Open Street Event in celebration of the completion of Ellwood City’s new bike route.
