Lincoln High Student Receives $1,000 McDonald’s Scholarship

Youth Development Center in Shenango Sold to Islamic Consulting Firm

After laying abandoned for several years, the 145-acre state-owned property housing the former Youth Development Center in Shenango Township has been sold to a Newark, New Jersey based Islamic consulting firm called HIRA. Out of three total bids on the property, HIRA was the highest and now the public is curious to know what the potential business plans on doing with the space. Ellwood City Summer Playground Program

Children ages 5-13 will be meeting weekdays from 10a.m.-2p.m. at the Ewing Park shelter #5 for the borough’s Summer Playground Program, starting June 12-August 10 (excluding June 29-July 4 for the Arts and Crafts Festival) and will be partaking in activities such as kayaking, yoga, and other summer activities. Celebration of the Arts Event

The Ellwood City Area Public Library is hosting its second annual “Celebration of the Arts” event in July, with this year’s theme centering around local artists and their work. Vogel Applauds Bipartisan Passage of Historic Pension Reform

Today (June 5) the Senate approved legislation reforming Pennsylvania’s two largest public pension systems, the Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS)  and the State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS).
