Corona D’italia Lodge #807 100th Anniversary Recap

Corona D’italia Lodge #807 celebrated the 100th anniversary of the organization of one of the first Italian Societies for women. Guided by the late John Statti, whose wife, Mary, was a polio victim, urging the women to form a social network. The Lodge began with 77 Charter members on December 31, 1917. The Charter organizers were Sylvia Bellora, who served as the first Venerable{President) Rola Pesce and Luigia Rubino. Recognized as the Founders are, Bellora, Angelina Fraschetti, Vittoria Port, Frances DeMartini, Mary DiThomas, Ida Colavincenzo, Lulu Bevivino and Dena Parascenzo. Progress Coming to Ellwood City: Redevelopment of Lawrence Avenue Properties

The area of 509-515 Lawrence Avenue has been awarded to Lutz & Myers for redevelopment. State Representative Aaron Bernstine posted a live video feed of himself accompanied by Ron Lutz and Ellwood City Revitalization member Brad Ovial explaining the details of the sale and plans for the 10,000+ square foot development. The redevelopment has been part of the ongoing Ellwood City Revitalization projects to better the community and attract more business and consumers. Check out the video below for more information:


Ellwood City Wolverines Defeat Steel Valley

Munhall, PA– Lincoln won 55-42 against Steel Valley on Wednesday with the help of Anthony Roth, who scored 25 points, including 17 points in a decisive 3rd quarter for the Wolverines. Ellwood City Wolverines clinched their lead in the third quarter on a free throw from Roth. Lincoln came back with a vengeance in the final two quarters, after being behind early in the game, trailing 23-19 at the half. Class of 1954 Christmas Dinner Meeting Recap

Pudue LaCava hosted the annual Christmas Dinner for the 1954 Lincoln High School, “81 Still Having Fun” committee on Thursday, November 30 at 2p.m. at her Mt. Vernon Drive Home. The full committee in attendance enjoyed a bountiful menu of ravioli, meatballs, sausage, ham, salads, vegetable trays and many desserts, provided by members and served by LaCava and Ilene Gardner. Admiring the beautiful Christmas decorated home added to the socializing of all in attendance. Moisture Issue at North Side Primary

While the Ellwood City School District works to flush excess lead from some of the taps at each of the schools, they are also working to fix a moisture problem at North Side Primary. The official press release from the district states this fall the district became aware of a moisture issue at North Side. In response, the District hired a company to test moisture and air quality on three separate occasions in three rooms in the basement of the building. The first and second floors were not affected. Ellwood City Wolverines Notch A Win Against Freedom

The Wolverines emerged victorious 78-62 against Freedom on Tuesday on the strength of Anthony Roth, who scored 31 points. Ellwood City had an early scoring surge, running out to an early double digit lead and claiming a 41-32 lead at the half. Lincoln solidified their lead in the final quarter, scoring 24 points. Roth led the charge for the Wolverine offense, scoring 31 points (10-17 shooting, one 3-pointers), with 11 points during the fourth period.
