Roth Hits 1,000 Point Milestone, Wolverines Defeat Western Beaver

Joseph Roth joined rarefied air Thursday night. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound big man poured in 25 points, cresting a 1,000 career point milestone, in the Wolverines 56-45 victory over Western Beaver. Roth, who collected the 1,000th point with a bucket in the third quarter, now joins nine other Ellwood City players, including an other brother and former teammate Steve Antuono, on the list of 1,000 point scorers in Ellwood City Basketball history. Ellwood City Winter Sports Tickets To Be Sold Online

Ellwood City Area School District will be slowly making the change to digital ticketing for all sports. The first round of ticketing for the Ellwood City Wolverines to be sold on-line will be for the 2022-23 Winter Sport Season. Tickets will be sold on-line at www.gofan.co or the Go Fan app. There will be no tickets sold at the school at this time. There will be a limited amount of Adult tickets, $5.00, and Adult season passes, $20.00, available to be purchased at the gate for each home game this season. The event is scheduled for Thursday, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with introductions of winter sport teams, and performances by cheerleaders and the Lincoln High School Marching band. Wolverines Find Success In Running Game But Not Enough Against The Eagles

The official start to the 2019 WPIAL football season began last night as 118 teams were in action Friday. For the Wolverines, they were competing in their second game of the season against the Serra Catholic Eagles from McKeesport, PA. Both teams were looking to improve on their Week Zero results as Serra Catholic slipped by Yough 9-0 while the Wolverines were coming off of a 48-0 loss to Beaver Falls. Season tickets for 2018 Ellwood City Wolverine Varsity Football games are now on sale. Tickets available will be adult season passes, student season passes and student super fan passes at Lincoln High School; and student season passes and student super fan passes at Hartman Intermediate and Perry Lower Intermediate. The Wolverines came into the evening with their backs against the wall – 0-2 on the season, a 14-game losing streak, and more importantly, the defending 3A State Title team was their opponent for week 3. Defense wins championships. It’s the famous phrase by many in football. Both teams on the field friday night proved worthy of winning based upon defensive play; however, only one team may prevail. The Hopewell Vikings were able to get that last push to win last night’s game over the Wolverines. Helling Stadium Fallen Pole Causes Severe Damage

Proceeding a storm with 60mph winds Friday evening, during a delayed football game at Helling Stadium a light pole at the stadium fell, struck two people, and damaged areas of the field and a Noga Ambulance. According to recent reports, 13-year-old Jaidyn Le’Viere, a junior cheerleading coach entering eight grade at Lincoln Junior-Senior High School, sustained injuries including lacerations in her back and a broken hip.
