Ellwood City’s Unified Bocce team earned a third place finish at the PIAA Interscholastic Unified Bocce State Championships last week in Hershey, PA. The Wolverines captured bronze with a thrilling 6-4 win over Pennridge. “When football talks the game of inches, bocce is truly the game of inches,” says head coach John DiBuono. The Ellwood City Bocce Team has advanced to the PIAA/SOPA State Championships! The team collected three victories and a first place finish at the regional championships held last week at Geneva College. There were 10 schools from the different sections represented. The top two teams advanced, and the Wolverines were one of them. Ellwood City defeated Bethel Park, 7-2, and Pine Richland, 5-3, before wrapping up their impressive performance with a 12-2 victory over Chartiers Valley in their final match.
