The Lady Wolverines used a three-hit performance by Freshman Ariana Garroway and an early five-run outburst to quickly dispatch the Panthers 15-0 in four innings on Tuesday. The Ellwood City softball team continued its undefeated streak following two victories against Neshannock and Shenango. Following a 13-3 conference victory on Tuesday, April 26 versus Neshannock, the Lady Wolverines faced weather cancellations until playing Shenango on Saturday. Ellwood defeated Shenango 6-3. Although the Lady Wolverines got off to a 2-0 head start in the first inning, Shenango pulled ahead 3-2 by the fourth. The Ellwood City softball team swung past three conference opponents in three days. The Lady Wolverines shut down Riverside 15-0 on Thursday, defeated Neshannock 11-8 on Friday and finished the weekend with a victory against Mohawk 7-1 on Saturday. On Thursday’s away game against rival Riverside, Ellwood’s Skyla Greco pitched a near perfect game, striking out 12 batters as her team defeated Riverside 15-0. When the fourth inning started, the Ellwood City softball team was in a quagmire, down 5-2 where any gains could be shut down by more Laurel runs. Gary Rozanski’s softball team played the last game of the regular season on Tuesday against Riverside. The Lady Wolverines went out with a bang, defeating the Lady Panthers 8-0. The home game was also senior night, which had to be arranged at the last moment due to weather cancellations. The team’s three seniors, Lauren Stiles, Summer Maine and RaeAnna Orock, were honored.
