PHOTOS: Lady Wolverines Cruise To 10-0 Victory On Senior Night

The Ellwood City baseball and softball teams both earned victories on Monday. The Lady Wolverines earned a resounding 10-0 victory over Beaver Falls as part of their Senior Night festivities. The boys baseball team will look for a mini sweep and to match the softball senior night victory when they host Mohawk on Tuesday at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. SOFTBALL RECAPS: EC Varsity Improves to 4-0; Junior High Off To Fast Start

Ellwood City softball programs are off to great starts this spring, with the varsity squad improving to 4-0 while the junior high team collected a resounding victory to continue its great play. Wolverines Varsity Defeats South Park, Record Now 4-0 Once again, the bats came out hot as the Lady Wolverines beat South Park last night 15-5 at Stiefel Park. The mercy rule put an end to this one after 5 innings. Rozanski to Stay as Head Coach of Wolverine Softball

Gary Rozanski Jr. will remain the head coach of the girls varsity softball team at Lincoln High School. During the November 14th Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors meeting, a group of parents—many of whose children are involved in a youth program not affiliated with the district and have not been coached by Rozanski—demanded consideration of a new varsity softball coach. It was announced at the December 5 directors meeting that Rozanski will stay on as coach. PHOTOS: Garroway, Greco Power EC Softball To Victory; Boys Baseball Holds On Late For Win

Ariana Garroway was an RBI machine on Monday, driving in four runs on three hits while Natalia Greco slugged a homerun to power the Wolverines past North Catholic 9-6 on Monday. Garroway drove in runs on a grand slam in the first as the Wolverines batted around and raced out to an early 9-0 lead at home. North Catholic scored five runs in the third inning, but Wolverines still managed to pull out the victory. Garroway went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Wolverines in hits. EC Softball Knocks Off Unbeaten Avonworth; JH Softball, Varsity Baseball Teams Victorious

Varsity Softball Knocks Off Previously Unbeaten Avonworth Record Now 8-4 Avonworth walked into Stiefel Park with an unblemished 13-0 record and were ranked as the #1 team in WPIAL Class 3A. They left with their first loss of the season as The Lady Wolverines made a statement with a convincing 6-1 win. The Wolverines kept their section championship aspirations alive as they improved to 5-2 in section play. Victories For Both Ellwood Softball Teams On Tuesday

Varsity Softball Team Defeats Beaver Falls; Improves To 3-1 After spotting the Tigers a 2-0 lead on two singles and two errors in the top of the first, The Lady Wolverines would score the next 17 runs to win the three-inning mercy rule shortened game by a final of 17-2. Ellwood City would score 6 runs in the second inning, all with two outs, to take command.  Kyla Servick started the rally with a two-out single. EC Varsity Softball Team Defeats Shenango; Improves to 2-1 on the Season

After a losing effort on Thursday against Ambridge, the Lady Wolverines got back to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they beat Shenango 14-2 on the Wildcats home turf.  The game was much closer than the final score as the Wolverines held a slim 3-2 lead until the fifth inning. Ellwood City Senior Signs With Robert Morris

Lincoln High School Senior Ariana Garroway has decided to continue her softball career by signing with Robert Morris University. Leading up to this opportunity has been years of hard work in her varsity softball career. Within the past three years, Garroway had proven herself to her coach multiple times. The Ellwood City girls softball team advanced in the Class 3-A WPIAL Playoffs with a 4-1 first round victory over South Allegheny on Tuesday afternoon. Wolverines defeated Shenango 10-5 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four with Wolverines batting in the bottom of the fifth when Maria Ioanilli grounded out, scoring one run.
