Annual Earth Day Event Cancelled, Virtual Art Contest Announced

The Lawrence County Earth Day Committee announced the cancellation of the annual Earth Day festivities.  The event will be replaced with a virtual art contest. In the statement received this week, the committee stated, “We are committed to keeping our visitors safe and healthy at Earth Day; therefore, the Lawrence County Earth Day Committee has decided to cancel the event scheduled for April 18th in Ewing Park.” In lieu of holding the event, a virtual art contest for all ages will be held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Lawrence County’s Earth Day Scheduled for April 20

The annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 20th at Ewing Park from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. There will be vendors, exhibits, food provided by INMETCO, musical entertainment, free horse and trolley rides. Wild World of Animals will be returning with exotic animals at noon and the 3rd Annual Trashion Show will be held at 11:00 a.m. First and second place winners of each category will receive cash prizes.
