Coach Rak’s Free Basketball Camp Continues to Make a Difference

More than 40 local children spent part of their summer on the basketball court thanks to the third annual Coach Rak Free Youth Basketball Camp. Open to boys and girls ages 6–12, this year’s camp welcomed 40 young athletes—25 boys and 15 girls—for five days of basketball fundamentals, skill development, teamwork, and fun. Whether campers were picking up a basketball for the first time or sharpening their skills, each child was encouraged to learn, improve, and enjoy the game. The Ellwood Area Family Center will be hosting a youth basketball clinic for Ages 8-11 beginning next Monday. The basketball sessions will be held at the Ellwood Area Family Center on the North Side of Ellwood City on Monday evenings beginning on Monday, August 10th. The clinic will run four five consecutive days from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Coach Bob Rak will be leading the clinic. Ellwood City Tennis will be conducting a tennis clinic for any boy or girl interested in learning the basics of tennis. The tennis clinic will be held on July 6th, 7th and 8th, 2026 at the Ewing Park Courts from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Any child ages 5-12 is eligible to sign up and participate. The Ellwood Area Family Center will be hosting a youth baseball clinic in February. The goal is to enhance youth baseball in the community and will be open to players ages 10-12. Upcoming BC3 Clinics To Help Girls Gain Volleyball Skills

Girls as young as fifth-graders can develop skills in volleyball by attending Butler County Community College clinics directed by a BC3 head coach whose players have won 475 matches and earned 14 All-American awards.
