PHOTOS: Wolverines Wrap Up Unbeaten Regular Season With Senior Night Victory Over Beaver Falls

Ellwood City has earned is first unbeaten regular season in 80 years after a convincing 52-0 blowout of Beaver Falls Friday night. The shutout performance was part of the senior night where sixteen Wolverine players were recognized before the game. One the game started, Ellwood City made quick work of the visiting Tigers as quarterback Chris Smiley tossed three first half touchdowns and the Wolverines raced out a 39-0 halftime advantage. Wolverines Claim Mercer Christmas Tournament Championship

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys basketball team swept a mini, two-game tournament this week and claimed the Mercer Christmas Tournament championship. The Wolverines defeated tournament host Mercer 58-37 to wrap up its championship on Wednesday Joseph Roth led the Wolverines with 22 points (13 rebounds, six assists, three blocks) while junior Nate Williams joined him in double figures with 15 points (two 3-pointers) for Ellwood City who used a 22-point second quarter to race out to a 31-23 halftime advantage. Fifth-ranked BC3 Volleyball Team Wins 3rd Consecutive Region 20 Title

Arnold, Md. – The unbeaten and fifth-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball squad’s perfect season continued Saturday with a regional title in Arnold, Md., and a berth in a three-team district tournament whose top two squads will advance to the national championships in Rochester, Minn. Ellwood City standout Breanna Reisinger had 14 kills, Morgan Jack 32 assists and Lainey Tobolewski 20 digs as the Pioneers (15-0) won their third National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Region 20 title in a row. EC Volleyball Defeats Shenango, Wins MAC Conference

The Ellwood City Girls Volleyball Team are conference champions! The Lady Wolverines defeated Shenango 3-1 Thursday evening, extending their unbeaten season (12-0 overall) and clinching its MAC Conference Championship. “It feels so great to be undefeated section champs, especially when we know we had to battle for some of those matches,” said head coach Jenna Ricciuti. Keller, Ellwood City Down Riverside To Claim 69th Little League Championship

Jordan Keller powered Ellwood City to a 10-8 victory over Riverside Saturday night, helping EC claim its championship in the 69th Ellwood City Little League Tournament. Keller collected a home run, two doubles and six RBI. Ellwood City successfully defended its title from last season and won its first back-to-back titles since 1971-1972. Walley Wins PIAA State Championship, First For LHS

Austin Walley is a state champion. The Ellwood City senior became the first to bring home a PIAA Wrestling Championship for Lincoln High School as he a victory over Dylan Bennett of Montoursville Area HS to claim gold on Saturday. Walley entered the 182-pound Class-AA championship match with only one loss on the season and squared off against an undefeated Bennett (39-0). Walley used a 6-5 decision to knock off Bennett. The team traveled to historic Dean Park in New Castle on Thursday evening to capture the championship hardware.
